CBD is on the rise in many fields. Celebrities, athletes, and even medical experts are using CBD to improve their quality of life. In recent times there has been a movement made up mostly of mental health experts advocating the use of this drug for different mental disorders and conditions.
But we are going to focus on a single condition: Anxiety. Yes, science corroborates, CBD is effective in relieving anxiety. But before you go looking for where to buy CBD online, it sure would do you good to be more informed about what CBD is and how it works, if only to have an informed answer if some skeptic asks you dismissively why you’re taking the oil.
CBD is the abbreviation, or acronym, for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is a chemical compound belonging to the cannabinoid group, of which there are over a hundred and counting.
Obviously, cannabinoids were so named because these chemical compounds are found in the Hemp plant. CBD, for example, is found in higher amounts in the Hemp Indica strain. The other variety of hemp, Hemp Sativa, contains virtually no CBD but does contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), a psychoactive chemical compound. This has great recreational value and alters your mental state.
How CBD helps with anxiety
First, you have to define anxiety, which isn’t exactly easy even among the most knowledgeable. Stress and anxiety are closely related and so are often the subject of confusion. Stress usually has to do with things that happen outside of us; There’s a traffic jam and we’re late for work or an appointment: We get stressed. There is a pandemic and we have no money to pay the rent: We get stressed.
Anxiety, on the other hand, takes place inside us, in our minds. There is a traffic jam and we can’t get to work: we start thinking about the repercussions, a dismissal, a quarrel with our boss, the looks… Our body tenses up, we sweat, and we feel cold.
That is, anxiety causes a physical response. Here is a list of some of the symptoms caused by anxiety:
- Trouble sleeping
- Irritability, moodiness
- Increased heart rate and blood pressure
- Extreme sweating
- Difficulty concentrating
- Headache, backache, stomach ache, etc.
How to use CBD oil
For generalized anxiety:
Take, at a minimum, twice daily. Recommended three times a day; morning, afternoon, and evening. Start with the minimum dose, one drop, and increase until you find a dose that works for you. It is not necessary to take the same dose every time, as some people may find it counterproductive to take CBD in the morning. So, you can limit yourself to a minimal dose in the morning and increase it throughout the day. Please check this article to find additional tips and information.
For panic attacks:
Given the arbitrariness of panic attacks, it is recommended to maintain a constant dose of CBD to prevent attacks and, should they occur, to dampen them. A small dose (1-2 drops of CBD oil) is recommended in five applications throughout the day: morning, mid-morning, noon, afternoon, evening, and night. In case of a panic attack, apply three drops directly under the tongue and hold the oil there for a few minutes, as this helps it take effect more quickly.
